As part of our topic all about law year 4 visited Manchester Crown Court.
When end we arrived, we had to go through a metal detector and security checks just like everybody else. We walked through the building where we saw barristers and other people waiting to take part in a trial.
We went to one of the small courts and discussed its features and where everybody would sit and work during a real trial.
The whole class then took part in a role play of a real trial. Daisy was picked to be the Judge, who leads the court. She got to wear a cloak and a wig. The people who were chosen to be Barristers also got to wear similar cloaks send wigs. Did you know a Judges' wig us made out of horse hair and costs £1000? A Barristers' wig cost slightly less at £750.
During the role play we learnt about the different things people do during a trial and how the decisions are made.
